Minneapolis police investigating Facebook threat 'looking forward' to Baton Rouge-style attack - City Pages

Minneapolis cops have reason to be even more jumpy than most, thanks to a Facebook post from someone who "looks forward" to the day the same thing happens here. Baton Rouge was the site of the police shooting of Alton Sterling, a black man whose death came one day before Philando Castile was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Falcon Heights. Extensive protests in Baton Rouge have led to heightened tensions between police and black civilians. The Facebook post, which appeared as a reaction to a USA Today story about the shooting in Baton Rouge, was first noticed by KSTP. Reporter Jay Kolls said the Minneapolis Police Department was "flooded" with word of the threatening message since it appeared yesterday. Here's the whole post, which, while hard to make sense of at some points, inarguably makes a positive reference to the notion of Minneapolis cops being targeted like those in Dallas or Louisiana. “It is not in color, it is your behavior and culture. You finally got something right it is in one’s behavior and culture. The behavior of the rogue cops and their inherent culture, but that is going to change, and soon or. I’m anxiously looking forward to the Minneapolis headlines when they come, and they, more than likely, will, people. Catherine Michael with the Minneapolis Police Department, who told KSTP that investigators were looking to question the person responsible for that post. "Officers, I do believe, feel like they have a target on their back, just because of what's been going on in this country," Michael told the station. Three officers were killed in the Baton Rouge attack Sunday morning, and three more were wounded. In both cases, the shooter was black, and a former member of a branch of the United States armed forces. KSTP declined to identify who posted the "looking forward" post. Should anyone happen to have seen the comment and know its author personally, feel free to explain in colorful language the various ways he or she is not helping anything or anyone.

RJ King Conquered the Runways; Now He's Focused on the Front Row - Vogue.com

When you’ve already run laps around the runways, starred in campaigns, and hit all the respective modeling milestones—what’s next. After seasons spent working for such labels as Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors, King decided to enjoy New York Fashion Week : Men’s as a guest this time around, taking his place in the audience at designer presentations and events. Catching up with old friends Steven Kolb and Carlos Campos and even hitting up the Vogue. com and Coach karaoke party, the model kept himself busy with several days—and nights—of nonstop fashion. Here, in his own words, King shares what it’s like to move from the catwalk to the front row. “Headed backstage at Perry Ellis, where I glimpsed the organized chaos of models changing looks and stylists directing the scrambling dressers. The presentation was moving—literally—and the collection was beautiful. I appreciated the collage inspiration behind it. It was particularly special seeing one of my first model roommates, Alex Beck, in the show. It’s hard not to love a collection as cool as theirs, and the fact that they are such great guys with such a dynamic relationship doesn’t hurt either. Aside from designing their collections they are also involved 100 percent in the look of their stores. “My first stop of day two was Stampd, where I chatted with Chris Stamp about the collection. He told me his favorite material to use when designing is leather, and it was interesting to see how he incorporated that into his collection. I was seated at Carlos Campos with the CFDA’s Steven Kolb and Shaun White. Knowing Carlos for six years, it’s exciting to see how consistently impressive he is with his designs. My last stop of the night was the Vogue. com and Coach karaoke party in the East Village. Tried to get Hamish [Bowles] to do a duet with me—he said maybe next time. “The past two days I had been off model duty, but I got to take a break from the craziness to make some money, so it was off to a Brooks Brothers shoot. After finishing, I went down to the showroom to check out the brand’s collection, which was beautiful and crisp, with a very modern fit. Casting director Chad Thompson took me around to see the collection and introduced me to Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel, the designers behind the eponymous label, and we then snapped a group selfie—think: Ellen DeGeneres Oscars selfie, but if... Next stop was the Timo Weiland show at the Cadillac House. I am almost as obsessed with his collection as I am with him. It’s easy to connect with somebody whose mom grew up in my hometown of St. Louis. It was sweet to see her cheering him on along with everyone else in the room. Last show of the day was John Varvatos, where I caught up with Fashion Week ambassador Kellan Lutz outside and Steven Kolb. With John’s designs to inspire Bill Mullen and MTC’s Maurilio Carnino casting, you are sure not to see anything average. Closed out Fashion Week with a bang, at the Wilhelmina party at Flash Factory, where Theophilus London and Machine Gun.
